Lissie has announced that she will release her new EP Promises in August. The EP marks a collection of takes on classic songs.
Promises is Lissie’s first body of work since her 2022 album Carving Canyons. The new EP finds Lissie covering classics which hold particular meaning to her including The Pretenders’ classic I’ll Stand By You.
Speaking about the EP and first taste of the release I’ll Stand By You, Lissie shared “We all go through phases and stages and music is such a gift for processing life events! … I sang ‘I’ll Stand By You’ to my husband, Mike, at our wedding reception so it’s taken on such a special meaning. It always makes me think about the promise I made that day.”
The new track is accompanied by a video made compiled from submissions by fans and also including footing from Lissie’s own wedding.
Amongst the other tracks on the six track Promises EP are Alphaville’s Forever Young, The Bangles’ Eternal Flame and Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere.
