Nathan Sykes shares new single Butterflies | Manchester gig in October
Nathan Sykes previews Ultraviolet with new single Butterflies
Nathan Sykes has released Butterflies, the second preview of his forthcoming album Ultraviolet, due out in October. The album lands ahead of two UK shows including a Manchester gig at the Deaf Institute. As well as the Manchester gig he will also headline at London’s O2 Academy Islington.
The new single follows the recent release of Getting Lost, his first solo release in eight years, and is complete with soaring hooks, vibrant vocals and emotional immediacy.
Speaking about the track and how if fits in to the album, Nathan Sykes said, “While writing the album, I wrestled with the balance between telling stories through moments of introversion – something I’ve often not been afforded the space to do previously – to just letting go and having my big pop moments. As soon as we stumbled upon ‘Butterflies’, I knew this was the song that captured the latter perfectly.”
“It’s about that feeling you get in your stomach; nervous, excited, giddy – thinking about someone new, someone you’ve known forever and the fun that person brings. The song came together quickly once we got there and it just as quickly sticks in everyone’s heads who hears it – it’s one of my favourite moments of the album and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
Butterflies was written with Tobie Tripp, David Sneddon and Theo Hutchcraft, and mixed by Steve Fitzmaurice. The full-length album Ultraviolet will arrive in multiple formats including digital, CD, cassette and two vinyl editions — with all bundles including a signed art print.
