Been Stellar will headline a Manchester gig at YES next week ahead of the release of their debut album Scream From New York, NY.

The Manchester gig is one of five UK headline and festival dates they are playing across May with further UK festival appearances in July.

Been Stellar will release the 10-track Scream from New York, NY on 21 June.  The album features the five-piece’s recent release Sweet, the third single from the album after February’s lead single Passing Judgment and March’s All In One.  Speaking about the single Been Stellar vocalist Sam Slocum said, “We were all intrigued by the simplicity of the verse, it felt like something we would usually shy away from.  I really tried to let the music inform the lyrics and to not overthink what was coming from the song’s natural feeling. One of the first lines that came to me was “We’re speaking when we don’t know what to say”. I think in close relationships, the most pure moments shouldn’t need to be spoken about. And life in general, the things that matter the most and bring people together shouldn’t warrant many words, if any. Words complicate feelings sometimes.”

Scream from New York, NY promises an image of ‘20s New York, unrelenting, harsh and addressing the disconnect and disaffected, whilst mirroring the same sonic inspirations.

Been Stellar will also perform at Tramlines Festival, Truck Festival and Latitude Festival in July.
