MIREI releases new concept album Tokyo Stories

J-pop, hip hop and electro diary of city life

MIREI has unveiled her new concept album Tokyo Stories, written across cafés, flights, and online studio sessions. The 14-song set, with one bonus track, plays like a novella, each track reflecting a different scene or secret from her hometown.

Opening track UNSENT introduces the record with MIREI’s Japanese vocals alongside blistering English and Chinese verses from AK Liu Zhang. The single has already gone viral, sparking millions of “unsent confession” clips on TikTok and Douyin.

The album was co-produced by LA-based Zak Leever, Brooklyn’s DJ Shiftee, and Tokyo beat-smith Masaaki Saitō. Together, they weave electro textures, grunge hip hop, and traditional sanshin elements into a fluid, genre-bending collection.

“These songs are my diary pages,” said MIREI. “Tokyo is equal parts beauty, burnout, danger, and laughter. I want listeners to feel that swirl in real time.”

The tracklist features Lolita Bonita, Split Personas, Tokyo Stories (Perfect Little Life), Stressed & Blessed, 1998, and Cinderella, among others.

MIREI has built her reputation with boundary-blurring pop and fearless commentary. With more than 730 million streams to date, her career includes Sony Music Japan hits 願い (Negai), Dear My Boo, and 大嫌い feat. さなり. She has completed two sold-out China tours and continues to bridge Japanese pop with a global audience.
