K. Michelle delves into country with Jack Daniel’s
Platinum-selling R&B icon shares her country debut
K. Michelle has released her country music debut with the new single Jack Daniel’s. Stepping into a bold new chapter, the platinum-selling artist serves up powerful vocals and heartfelt storytelling in a smoky ballad co-written with ERNEST, Rocky Block and Jordan Dozzi. Production comes from Kristian Bush — known for work with Sugarland and Megan Moroney — alongside Grammy-nominated engineer Jeff Balding.
Described by K. Michelle as a return to her musical roots, Jack Daniel’s sees the Tennessee native become the first Black woman to partner with the iconic whiskey brand.
“This is me coming home,” said K. Michelle. “Country is in my blood. I was raised on southern soil in Memphis, Tennessee, where soul and country grew from the same roots. This new music is a celebration of where I come from — the pride, the bittersweet and the whiskey-soaked truth of it all.”
With lyrics that brand the drink as “the only man she trusts”, the track leans into tradition while redefining boundaries. The singer’s move into country was first teased with Tennessee, a bonus cut from her 2023 album I’m The Problem. That same year, she featured on A Tribute To The Judds singing Love Can Build A Bridge with Jelly Roll and Fisk Jubilee Singers, appeared at the CMA Awards and made her Nissan Stadium debut at CMA Fest.
Raised on a musical diet blending Mary J. Blige and The Judds, K. Michelle earned a scholarship to Florida A&M for yodelling — and now brings those roots full circle in a genre-defying new era.
“This is my story, and I’m ready for the world to hear it,” she added.
