Pynch to release new album Beautiful Noise

Pynch dive inward on poetic and playful new album Beautiful Noise

Pynch will release their second album Beautiful Noise this week via Chillburn Recordings. Written and produced by frontman Spencer Enock in the band’s Brixton home studio, the album builds on the coming-of-age themes of their debut Howling at a Concrete Moon, but trades political disaffection for existential intimacy.

While the previous album captured a generation’s malaise, Beautiful Noise shifts focus toward love, death, and the creative search for meaning. Drums were recorded by Stereolab’s Andy Ramsay at Press Play Studios, and the final mix comes courtesy of Jimmy Robertson. The result is a lo-fi collage of new-wave synths, distorted guitars, breakbeats and glitchy vocal textures — bound together with a warm DIY sensibility.

It’s an album that promises melancholy to sardonic simplicity. It muses over existential questions – does anything really matter? is there more out there? Musically it is set to drift between slacker pop and spiritual yearning.

Themes of faith, loss and joy — shaped by a refreshed line-up

The record also marks a new chapter in the band’s evolution. Following the departure of founding member James Rees, Myles Gammon joined on synthesisers in 2024, contributing fresh textures to the band’s shifting sound. Spencer’s brother Scott Enock created the artwork using hand-developed 35mm photography, which echoes the album’s lo-fi and deeply personal feel. Drummer Julianna Hopkins also expands her role with vocals and synths across the album.

Reflecting on the album, Spencer Enock said, “We wanted to make a record that’s authentic and reflective of who we are as a band. We mostly recorded it in my bedroom in Brixton with the help of some incredible people. It’s all about love, death and the wonder of being alive in the first place. It was a joy to make and I think you can hear that in the music.
