Litany has shared her new single Adult Movies, the title track of her latest five track EP which was out earlier this month.
The single is produced by Fyfe and co-written with James New. The track tells the tale of two friends drunk, high and watching adult movies ironically, which inevitably leads to more intimacy than either of them had planned. And then lust leads to love in the most unexpected of ways. As Litany explains, “Neither I or my best friend had voiced that we’d been harbouring feelings for one another in the months leading up to New Year’s Eve but introduce a load of drink, kitchen scissor haircuts and soft porn movies and naturally we ended up sleeping together (it was awesome). A few days later, I was just sat smiling in bed recalling all the cute and crazy shit we did that night, applied a melody and a couple hours later ‘Adult Movies’ was born.”
Adult Movies the EP features all three singles (Adult Movies, Cream and Sleepever) alongside brand-new tracks The End and Happy Anniversary. “I see every track on this EP as a three minutes(ish) long audiobook of pivotal moments in my past two serious relationships” Litany says. “Lyrically I wanted each song to muster a vivid scene in people’s heads so I tried to really hone in on each detail that made those moments unique to me and my situation. I called it ‘Adult Movies’ because that’s kinda what they are collectively; little audio movies of my adult love life – get your minds out the gutter!”
Litany recently returned to live shows with a sold-out night at the Jazz Cafe and will headline at Scala on 30 September with a line-up featuring special guests Millie Turner and Tayo Sound.
