Arcade Fire member to play at Manchester’s Deaf Institute

Will Butler has announced his first solo European tour, in support of his album Policy, which will see him performing four gigs in the UK, including Manchester’s Deaf Institute on 21st April.

Opening in Holland on 11st April, the run will stop off in Belgium, Germany and France before arriving in the UK, ending in Dublin on 25th April.

The tour comes just weeks after the release of his debut album Policy on 16th March via Merge Records, with a new track Anna set to premiere on Zane Lowe’s BBC show this week.  Recording without Arcade Fire was clearly a different experience and Butler said of the album “Most of the songs are extremely bare – it’s hard to do something that bare with Arcade Fire”.

Speaking of the tour and playing without Arcade Fire, Butler commented, “After playing arenas and giant fields with a 12 piece last summer, I’m really excited to fill small venues with a 4 piece. We’ll still be plenty loud.”

The full tour listing:
20th April   –   Glasgow, Art School
21st April   –   Manchester, Deaf Institute
22nd April   –   London, Scala
23rd April   –   Birmingham, The Institute
25th April   –   Dublin, Whelans.
