Having released her first solo album for almost two decades earlier this year, the highly acclaimed Blank Project, singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry is set to perform at Manchester’s Gorilla on 29th January 2015.

Blank Project marked a departure from her pop/r’n’b style which saw her scoop two Brit Awards (Best International Newcomer and Best International Solo Artist) as well as a further four nominations in the 1990s, receive a Grammy Award nomination and MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song (1994 – 7 Seconds) enjoying massive hit singles Buffalo Stance and Manchild from her million selling album Raw Like Sushi along the way.  Blank Project follows in the footsteps of her 2012 collaboration with The Thing on the album The Cherry Thing – jazz influences, heavy percussion and rhythms, penetrating personal lyrics and pulsating listening.

But this shouldn’t really be a surprise as Neneh Cherry seems to have crossed all imaginable genres – starting her career in punk bands, working with jazz musicians, enjoying solo pop, hip-hop/rap success, dabbling in electronica, dance and trip-hop – and has fought strongly to avoid being penned into one music style.  It’s this ability to pull through all imaginable influences and genres which has made her such a highly acclaimed, groundbreaking and influential musician.

Tickets for Neneh Cherry performing at Gorilla on 29th January 2015 are on sale now priced at £12.50 + booking fee.
