My Life Story celebrate 25 years of Joined Up Talking with vinyl reissue and UK tour

My Life Story will mark the 25th anniversary of their album Joined Up Talking with a newly remastered edition and a special UK tour that includes a Manchester gig at Gullivers. The Manchester gig is one of 5 UK dates My Life Story will play.

Originally released in 2000, the Britpop-era album has been remastered for the first time and will be issued on double coloured vinyl and deluxe 3×CD format via Republic of Music. The expanded edition includes B-sides, rarities, and demo versions of key tracks, bringing fresh attention to what the album.

The album features the classic singles It’s a Girl Thing, Empire Line, Walk/Don’t Walk, and If You Can’t Live Without Me Then Why Aren’t You Dead Yet? — the the world’s first ever downloadable single.

Joined Up Talking was originally recorded in 1999 with producer Pete Gleadall at Parkgate Studios in Battle, and reflected the cultural landscape of the era with references to Monica Lewinsky, Tamagotchis, Pret A Manger and the dot-com boom. Its lyrical density and genre-bending production echoed influences ranging from Madonna’s Ray of Light to Beck’s experimental work.

Frontman Jake Shillingford has revisited the album’s archive for the anniversary release, sharing digitised cassette tapes, DATs and press materials with fans via his Patreon page. In addition to the reissue, the band will play the album in full live, alongside a career-spanning set of fan favourites.
