No Joy will release their fifth album Bugland in August. The album lands ahead of a UK tour opening with a Manchester gig at Yes. The Manchester gig is one of six UK dates No Joy will headline.
New Joy is now the solo project of Jasamine White-Gluz. The album marks No Joy’s first new material for five years. It finds White-Gluz teaming up with co-producer Fire-Toolz (Angel Marcloid) to create an album in part inspired by White-Gluz’s move to a more rustic area of Quebec.
Speaking about the album and the five years since 2020’s Motherland, White-Gluz explained, “The wait wasn’t intentional but I think rural living made me tune out the noise of the music biz and focus more inwards, writing and taking my damn time.”
“The collaboration really felt limitless,” says co-producer Fire-Toolz “I could easily relate to it because Jasamine and I liked a lot of the same music, and I was able to be creative in ways that were freeing as if I was making my own album.”
