Local quartet Starsailor headline at Manchester’s O2 Ritz next week, following the release of their latest album All This Life in September.

All This Life is the band’s fifth studio album, and their first since 2009.  The release of the album followed the unveiling of two singles, the title track and opening track Listen To Your Heart.

Speaking of the title track, lead singer and guitarist James Walsh commented, “’All This Life’ came about quite quickly & effortlessly even down to the main lyric. I think that’s why it has an upbeat fresh sound to it. It’s about how easy it is to get weighed down with all the seriousness in life and how important it is finding joy and humour in people and things as much as you can even in small doses. ‘There’s no love without light’”.

The group, who originally formed at Wigan and Leigh Music College, have enjoyed a strong year, performing at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, British Summer Time in Hyde Park, supporting Phil Collins and Blondie, and are now in the midst of a 12-date headline tour.

Signing to EMI Records, they shot to fame with their debut album Love Is Here in 2001. Featuring the Top 10 single Alcoholic, the album was released to great critical acclaim and reached Number Two in the UK Album Charts going on to sell over half a million copies in the UK alone.

For the band’s second album Silence Is Easy in 2003, Starsailor worked with legendary producer Phil Spector, alongside Danton Supple (Elbow, Doves) and John Leckie (The Stone Roses, Radiohead). The album also reached Number Two in the UK and soon went Gold.
