Joyer unveil animated visual for At The Movies and confirm new album details

Joyer have released their new single At The Movies, the final preview of upcoming album On The Other End of the Line…, which lands via Julia’s War Recordings.

The track arrives with an official animated music video created by Sabrina Nichols (Shep Treasure), who also contributes backing vocals to the record. A sprawling, shimmering track, At The Movies unfolds over swirling guitars and hazy melodies, soundtracking a dreamlike sequence of sauntering animals in the video.

Speaking about the song, Shane Sullivan said, “At the time I was writing this song, I was thinking a lot about how going to the movies can be such a great distraction from any problems I’m having. Movies have always been something really important to both of us and something we definitely bonded on at an early age. I think it inspires and informs a lot of our music-making and can be a comforting break from being burnt out from music or other areas of my life.”

When does Joyer release On The Other End of the Line…?

Joyer will release On The Other End of the Line… on Friday 24 October 2025.

Recorded at Palisade Studios in Chicago and produced by Slow Pulp’s Henry Stoehr, the album sees Joyer dial back the shoegaze leanings of 2024’s Night Songs in favour of richer, folk-infused textures and dynamic drum patterns. Guest contributions include Sabrina Nichols and Chicago-based singer-songwriter Morgan Powers.

Tracks such as Cure, Spell, and Glare of the Beer Can showcase the band’s shift toward more vulnerable lyricism and complex rhythmic structures. Longtime friend Jake Miller appears throughout, while the album’s theme explores dislocation, reconnection, and the desire to be understood — or simply heard — on the other end of the line.
