Florence Sommerville shares new single Silly Little Things
Florence Sommerville releases fifth single from Endless Horizon
Florence Sommerville, named both UK Country Artist of the Year and UK Female Country Singer of the Year at the 2025 UK Country Music Awards, has released her latest single Silly Little Things. The 21-year-old Essex-based artist co-wrote the song with Nashville hitmaker Sally Barris, known for her work with Trisha Yearwood, Lee Ann Womack, and Ashley Monroe.
The song, which landed on 3 October, is based on a true story. Explaining the inspiration behind it, Florence Sommerville said, “A friend of mine was going through a break-up, and she was at the point where she felt like she’d gotten over him, but it was the little everyday things that reminded her to miss him, like the lamp they’d picked out together or the necklace he bought her. I mean, that’s just songwriter food, and this is the song that came out of it. I’d written the song, and I was going to play it to my friend, but just as I was about to, she told me that they had gotten back together. (I never played it to her!).”
Silly Little Things is the fifth track to be released from Sommerville’s acclaimed debut album Endless Horizon, which landed in July. Earlier single Out Where The Love Grows received airplay from BBC Radio 2’s Whispering Bob Harris, who also selected Sommerville as his Horizon Artist of the Month for August.
Sommerville, who has been writing songs since she was 13, has already performed at iconic Nashville venues including the Bluebird Café, Commodore Grille and Maxwell House. In the UK, she has appeared at Country Calling, Maverick Festival, Latitude, and the Green Note, supporting artists such as Diana Jones, Annie Keating and Tom Robinson.
