Ant Law will headline a Manchester gig at NQ Jazz

Ant Law to headline NQ Jazz in Manchester as part of Unified Theories tour

Acclaimed guitarist headlines in support of latest album Unified Theories, released earlier this year.

Ant Law will bring his Unified Theories project to NQ Jazz in Manchester on Monday 22 September 2025. The concert forms part of a short UK run following the release of his ninth album.

Praised by The Guardian as “an innovator” and Jazz Special as “required listening for connoisseurs,” Unified Theories has been selected as Jazzwise magazine’s Editor’s Choice. The record features ten new compositions, plus a contrafact on a well-known standard.

The music explores ideas of collaboration and experimentation. Tracks include Stereopticon, built around two tonal centres; Nikumaroro, inspired by a rhythmic cycle shaped like a Pacific island; and Colours, which explores deliberate contradiction and juxtaposition.

The Manchester performance will feature long-time collaborator Michael Chillingworth (alto saxophone), Conor Chaplin (bass) and French-Brazilian drummer Ananda Brandão.

The album listing: 1. A to Z; 2. Colours; 3. Parity; 4. Tbilisi; 5. Ballroom; 6. Nikumaroro; 7. Where Would We Be?; 8. Stereopticon; 9. Octopus Pyjama; 10. Ensconced; 11. Nikumaroro (alternate take)
