People’s History Museum launches exclusive Christmas decorations and festive Winter Makers Markets

Festive decorations celebrate solidarity and tradition

People’s History Museum in Manchester is embracing the festive season with a new range of exclusive handmade Christmas decorations created in collaboration with textile artist Frockdolly.

Crafted from brightly coloured felt and vivid thread, the decorations feature designs inspired by European folk art and the values championed by the museum. These include the raised fist of solidarity and the Pride Progress flag, alongside timeless festive symbols.

Each piece is individually stitched by hand and carries a message of hope and unity. Measuring approximately 10–13cm tall, the decorations are priced at £12.50 and available now via the PHM online shop. They arrive in the museum shop from Tuesday 8 October 2025. Every purchase supports PHM’s work sharing “ideas worth fighting for”.

Winter Makers Markets bring independent design to the Engine Hall

From Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 November 2025, the museum’s Grade II listed Edwardian Engine Hall will transform into a festive marketplace for PHM’s Winter Makers Markets.

The markets open with a Winter Warmer evening on Thursday 20 November (£10, bookable in advance), featuring live music, seasonal food, pop-up craft workshops, and a complimentary glass of mulled wine. Entry is free from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 November, with no booking required.

Visitors can expect stalls from independent designers and makers across the North West, alongside creative workshops hosted by the artists themselves. Workshop places start from £15 and are bookable in advance.
