Liz Stringer to play intimate solo set at The Yard Manchester

Liz Stringer returns with The Second High

Liz Stringer will bring her solo show to Manchester’s The Yard on Thursday 9 October 2025, celebrating the release of her seventh studio album The Second High. The Manchester gig is one of five UK dates she will play.

Produced and engineered by Beni Giles in Brixton, the album expands her sound into jazz, soul and funk while tackling themes of self-actualisation, social inequity and the pursuit of authenticity and trust. The album scooped an array of praise from the likes of The Guardian and Clash, with tracks such as Anger highlight her blend of musical experimentation and lyrical depth.

Stringer, who relocated to the UK in 2024, has long been celebrated in her native Australia. Twice nominated for the Australian Music Prize, she was Port Fairy Folk Festival’s Artist of the Year in 2023 and previously named “An Emerging Legend of Australian Song” by Woodford Folk Festival. She also toured internationally as a vocalist with Midnight Oil between 2020 and 2022.

Liz has carved out a unique place in the Australian industry and a cult-like following due to her staunch independence as an artist and her ability to connect deeply with audiences. She achieves the rare combination of emotionally intricate, chest-heaving songs with her exceptional skill as a guitarist and piano player and her quick, sardonic wit, garnering loyal fans and the highest esteem of musicians across the world.
