The Starburst International Film Festival has announced that it will be screening the first episode of Red Dwarf Xi, from the brand new series, on 28 August.

The screening will take place in the presence of writer and director Doug Naylor, who will also be presented with an award at the festival’s premiere awards ceremony that evening.

In the episode, Twentica, The Dwarfers find themselves in an alternative version of America where modern technology is prohibited, making Rimmer and Kryten illegal. The Dwarfers infiltrate the tech savvy underground and try to bring down the authoritarian regime.

The screening forms a part of the Starburst International Film Festival which takes place at Manchester Metropolitan University 26-29 August 2016.  The festival is run by Starburst Magazine, the world’s longest-running magazine of cult entertainment.
