Sigrid announces Manchester gig ahead of new album
Third studio album There’s Always More That I Could Say lands this month
Norwegian pop star Sigrid has announced a run of UK and Ireland tour dates including a Manchester gig at Manchester Academy. The Manchester gig is one of six dates following a string of European shows.
The announcement comes as Sigrid prepares to release her long-awaited third album There’s Always More That I Could Say. The record features recent singles Two Years, Fort Knox and Jellyfish, and will be supported by a run of In-Store appearances including Liverpool’s Rough Trade on 30 October.
The 11-track album showcases Sigrid’s evolving songwriting, shaped by solo writing retreats in Norway and years of touring across the globe. Collaborating once again with longtime producer and co-writer Askjell Solstrand, Sigrid explores themes of infatuation, heartbreak and renewal. Speaking about Jellyfish, she said: “I love using my voice as a vessel to pour my heart out, but on this song, I wanted it to sound carefree, joyful and playful – maybe a bit nonchalant.”
Two Years, co-written in Tokyo with Askjell, takes a perspective-shifting look at romantic disconnection. “It was trying to see the relationship situation from another person’s point of view,” Sigrid explained. Meanwhile, Fort Knox channels frustration into what she describes as a “euphoric anthem,” contrasting the laid-back mood of Jellyfish.
