RØRY has announced a run of UK shows including a Manchester gig at Manchester Academy 2.  Along with the announcement she has also confirmed details of new EP Family Drama.

The Manchester gig is one of 10 UK dates she has announced.  The alt-pop artist will tour the UK in February and March 2024.

Speaking about the upcoming 8 track EP Family Drama, RØRY said, “There is a proverb that says “the child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel its warmth”. That sums up this EP. It’s my messy attempt at making sense of a broken home, of addicted adults, of zero accountability, and of always being the one that is blamed.”

“I come from a dysfunctional family, where the absolute worst thing you can ever do is tell the truth” she adds.  “Mentioning the long term affair between my father and step-mother led to a breakdown in our relationship. But… their secrets are not my secrets. This EP is me finally giving a voice to the girl who has been silenced and shamed for simply having difficult emotions in the face of affairs. Rage, sadness, regret, grief… these are the words that come to mind when I think of my family of origin. And I know I am not the only one.”

The EP features the previous singles the apology I’ll never receive, ALTERNATIVE and hurt myself.  RØRY will release the Family Drama EP on 6 October 2023.

The tour will kick off in Bristol at Thekla on the 26 February then continue around the country hitting Cardiff, Norwich, Nottingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham before wrapping up in Brighton on the 11 March.  The tour will see RØRY play London’s Electric Ballroom on the 29 February.

Speaking about the tour RØRY commented, “Being the “problem child” leads to a sense of real loneliness… It often feels there is no one else that understands what we are going through, and to a deep sense of personal shame. Secrecy and silence are the markers of dysfunctional families. To be able to meet together and scream songs about what we have gone through is incredibly healing! When your own family isn’t a safe place, there is an urgent need to find a community that is. I hope that’s what these shows can be.”
