The Sundowners

Liverpool five-piece The Sundowners perform just over a week after the release of their new album Cut The Master.  The album is the follow up to their lauded self-titled 2015 debut.

An assembly of rare, unconventional musical minds gathered for the band’s recording sessions at Parr Street Studios, Liverpool, placing a multitude of hands on the production tiller, resulting in a fascinatingly, multi-directional record. Collaborators led by the band included James Skelly and Rich Turvey (The Coral, She Drew The Gun, Blossoms) and part-musical archaeologist, part-sonic alchemist, Andy Votel.  Votel not only co-produced two tracks, but also curated and penned a series of curious, cinematic interludes that weave between each track.

Edgar Jones and the New Joneses

A regular of the Liverpool live scene, Edgar Jones recently returned with his new album The Song of Day and Night.  The album is released via Skeleton Key Records.  The Song of Day and Night draws influence from Jones’ big love of 60’s stateside soul music labels both North and South

Edgar made his first foray into the Liverpool scene at the age of 18 as Ian McCulloch’s (Echo and the Bunnymen) bassist.  He then left to form his own group, the much loved psychedelic group the Stairs.  Today their debut LP Mexican R’n’B is a rare and collectible item. From there on, a bona-fide bass guitarist, Edgar’s skills have been called upon by many including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Cherry Ghost and Love. Alongside this he has led his own groups, highlighting his love of rhythm and blues and soul music.  The release of the record now sees him embark on a national tour with his 4-piece band.
