Brisbane-based psych/garage-rock band Nice Biscuit will open a run of UK dates with a set at Manchester’s Projekts Skatepark.
The Manchester gig is one of six UK dates they have confirmed. They will also perform at Liverpool’s District.
The Manchester and Liverpool gigs come after the band’s recent sets at The Great Escape and follow a run of European dates.
Nice Biscuit blend harmonies vocals and instrumentation as they mix psychedelic and garage rock. The band has recently signed to the label Bad Vibrations and dropped a cover of Donna Summer’s iconic single I Feel Love.
Speaking about the release, the band explained, “I Feel Love’ has always been one of our favourite dance tracks and we felt very excited to record and release this gem by Donna Summer, the queen of disco herself.”
Since forming in 2016 the band have gained a reputation for their awe-inspiring live shows, hypnotising audiences in Australia and across the UK. Nice Biscuit have played with the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Allah Las, The Growlers and The Murlocs.
Their debut LP Digital Mountain (2018) gained wide acclaim by psych fans in Australia, UK and US with highlight singles Captain, Fairfield of Dreams & Digital Mountain Sparrow. The first and only vinyl press of this LP quickly sold out and they remain in hot demand.
In 2019, they embarked on an 11-date tour in the UK including appearing at The Great Escape and securing a support slot with Altın Gün at the Jazz Cafe as well as three headline shows in London (including a packed house at The Shacklewell Arms), generating a strong fan and media buzz.
Nice Biscuit returned in December 2020 with their much anticipated single Fem Chem, which featured on their EP Create, Simulate, released internationally in February 2021. Create, Simulate received rave reviews and national radio-play and showcases the bands deeper, darker pop-injected psych. Later in 2021 they released their second EP Passing Over that boasts a lighter side of the Biscuits with elongated instrumentals building to smooth, danceable, grooves, taking space to tell a story sonically and lyrically. They released these contrasting EPs on vinyl as a double EP Create, Simulate / Passing Over selling out in record stores and online sales.
Nice Biscuit are set to release their second album in early 2024.
