Overcoats have shared their new single Horsegirl, which they are releasing on their own new label Never Fall Back Records.
Overcoats wrote the new track alongside Day Wave, who also produced. The duo recorded the track in Los Angeles with additional production from Daniel Tashian in Nashville.
The single is the band’s first new material since their 2021 EP Used To Be Scared Of The Dark and is accompanied by a video showing the duo of Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell doing a single take sing-a-long on Amy Grant’s Tennessee farm. Horsegirl marks a shift to a more country-tinged direction for Overcoats.
Speaking about the single, Overcoats’ Hana Elion said, “It’s about that feeling of wanting to wander instead of being tied down or tamed. But the point is that we’re not horse girls—we’re the horse itself.”
