The very first UK Americana Awards are set to be launched on 3 February 2016 at the iconic St John at Hackney music venue in East London.

The new event in the music industry calendar will be hosted by legendary broadcaster Bob Harris.

Whilst Americana has long been celebrated in the US, where the annual Americana Awards have become a well-established event, it is now enjoying a growing profile in the UK with artists such as The Staves and Bears Den heading its growth, and act such as Alabama Shakes and Sturgill Simpson contributing to its success in the US.

The Awards have been created by the Americana Music Association UK (AMA-UK) to celebrate the achievements of British and International musicians working under the broad reach of the Americana genre. Alongside Award presentations, the show will feature nominee and special guest performances in front of an audience of AMA-UK members, partners & sponsors, music industry guests and the general public.

The Awards show is part of a trio of events taking place in London on 2nd and 3rd February 2016, including a two day conference and an evening of showcases to be held at various Hackney venues on 2nd February.
