Speaking about covering John Prine, Elles Bailey explained, “I cannot truly put into words the impact that John Prine’s music has had on my life. … I Remember Everything’ is the last song John recorded. It was released posthumously after he left us in April 2020. John, for me, has always made the mundane magical: he makes you feel like he’s your best friend even though you have never met. This song sums up everything about John Prine that makes him one of the most talented writers to have walked this Earth. I will be forever grateful to have shared the same air as him: to have lived when he lived and to have learned from his genius.”

The video of her performance of the track at her Ain’t Nothing But live-stream series was included by the Americana Music Association UK in its first virtual AmericanaFest UK as part of their John Prine Tribute, with Elles Bailey adding, “I was so honoured that my version of ‘I Remember Everything’ was included in the John Prine Tribute Show for AmericanaFest UK. I have made it no secret how deep my admiration and awe for John’s writing runs, so to be involved alongside so many incredible acts — like Billy Bragg, Ida Mae, and John’s sons — is an experience I will treasure forever. I am delighted to say that the recording (featuring Joe Wilkins and Phil King) is out now.”

After the success of her live-stream series and 16-track covers album Ain’t Nothing But, the multi-award-winning Elles Bailey has been shortlisted for the UKBlues Awards in three categories: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for ‘Ain’t Nothing But’) and in the Federation’s new Most Inspirational Online Performance category.
