Multi-platinum hip-hop group Cypress Hill will release their ninth studio album, Elephants on Acid, on 28 September ahead of a UK tour including a Manchester gig at Manchester Academy.
Elephants on Acid is their first full-length release in eight years and marks their newly inked partnership with BMG.
The album marks the first album DJ Muggs has produced since 2004’s Til Death Do Us Part. The LP is comprised of a 21-track-interlude mix, playing out like a rap odyssey around the world. The album was conceived back in 2013 when Muggs started collating possible ideas. Inspiration came after dreaming of an out-of-body experience as a man with an elephant head. At the same time, he travelled the world, recording in Egypt, working in Jordan, floating in the Dead Sea and visiting Joshua Tree. B-Real and Sen Dog then added their touch. The album also features guest vocals from the likes of Gonjasufi on Jesus Was A Stoner, Brevi Wood on Crazy and Eric ‘Bobo’ Correa, who contributes drums to Locos.
Elephants on Acid is set for release on 28 September ahead of a UK tour opening at the end of November. The tour opens with a Manchester gig at Manchester Academy.
