Debut UK Tour set to include date at Manchester’s Gorilla.
Following a hugely successful US reunion tour and the reissue of the seminal self-titled album, massively influencial US band American Football have announced their first ever three-date UK tour which will include a performance at Manchester’s Gorilla on Saturday 16th May.
Since the release of their eponymous debut album, some 15 years ago, emo-indie band American Football have seen the long player become one of the most beloved titles in US indie music. And that occurred after they had disbanded, having played only a few shows.
But the trio of Mike Kinsella (also famed for his work with Cap’n Jazz, Owen and Owls), Steve Lamos and Steve Holmes are now back to give their loyal fan base new material and the tour which all fans have been waiting for. During their absense their influence and legacy continued to grow, to such an extent that their label, Polyvinyl reissued American Football in 2004 on vinyl and then again in 2008 with a 1-sided 12″ release including new photography, reflecting the iconic stature of the original artwork which accompanied the album on its first release.
The full tour listing:
14th May 2015 – London, Electric Ballroom
15th May 2015 – Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
16th May 2015 – Manchester, Gorilla
Tickets for American Football at Manchester’s Gorilla on Saturday 16th May 2015 go on sale at 10am on Monday 24th November priced at £20.
