Tuesday 25 November:

Gorilla – Up Close: From Tango to Gaga.  The Manchester Camerata presents a programme featuring pieces as diverse as Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in A minor and Vivaldi’s Winter from the Four Seasons through to Lady Gaga’s Telephone.  Lithuanian accordian sensation Martynas Levickis will also be featured.  Tickets £10 / £6.  7.30pm.

 

Wednesday 26 November:

Chetham’s School of Music – Lunchtime Concert.  This free lunchtime concert at Chetham’s School of Music features piano, violin and harp virtuoso performances by leading students of the school.  Pieces to be performed include Naderman’s Sonatina No 6 and Koskowski’s Etudes.  Free.  1.30pm.

 

Thursday 27 November:

Martin Harris Centre – Richard Boothby.  Richard Boothby performs a number of pieces for the solo viola da gamba in this free lunchtime concert featuring French music from the 17th century by Hotman, de Machy, Debuisson and more.  Free.  1.10pm.

Royal Northern College of Music – Decontamination 2.  The latest in the RNCM’s Decontamination series sees Lyn Fletcher featured on violin and Benjamin Powell on piano as two of Bill Viola’s movies, Angel’s Gates and Anthem, are showed alongside Zahab’s arranagements of Harmonies from Apartment House 1777.  Also being performed is John Cage’s Six Melodies.  Tickets £8.  9.00pm.

Chetham’s School of Music – Chetham’s Showcase.  Four of Chetham’s top students and musicians of the future are featured in a concert which will include the music of Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.  Full details here. Tickets £10 / £8.  7.30pm.

 

Saturday 29 November:

Bridgewater Hall – BBC Philharmonic.  The BBC Philharmonic presents a programme including Berlioz’s Beatrice and Benedict, Overture, Brahms’ Violin Concerto, Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements and Ravel’s La Valse.  Tickets £37-£12.  7.30pm

 

Saturday 30 November:

RNCM – RNCM James Mottram International Piano Competition 2014 Concerto Final.  The three finalists of the RNCM competition (which is running all week) complete for the grand prize, performing from a shortlist of Concertos by Beethoven, Chopin, Grieg, Liszt, Mozart and Schumann.  The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra accompanies. Tickets from £14.00.  7.30pm.
