Manchester’s Chetham’s School of Music, the largest specialist music school in the UK with around 300 students aged 8-18, is set to hold a Showcase Concert on Thursday 27th November featuring four of the school’s outstanding soloists.  The event, which was launched with a sell-out show in November 2013, will profile the next generation of classical musicians and see four students each perform a 20 minute recital.

The concert, being held in the Carole Nash Hall will feature a varied programme including Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, CPE Bach and Mozart.

17 year old Jack Reddick has established himself as an outstanding performer with the flute and piccolo in the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra, but more widely has performed with the Whitgift Chamber Orchestra alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and was accepted into the National Youth Orchestra.  He has also been a regular performer at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall since 2012.

Also showcasing her ability will be 17 year old French Horn player Emma Bain, a member of the National Youth Orchestra and former Principal Horn in the National Children’s Orchestra.  Since taking up the horn at the age of ten, Emma has also found herself performing numerous solo and ensemble performances in Sri Lanka as part of the Commonwealth Resounds project and performing with the Commonwealth Festival Orchestra in Westminster Abbey as well as two solo horn recitals in Peterborough Cathedral.  She has also performed as a soloist as part of Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra.

The piano will also be featured as Spanish student Eudald Buch takes to the stage.  Having began to play the piano at the relatively late age of ten, he has developed quickly to perform in international festivals such as the International Holland Music Sessions as well as winning a number of awards in chamber music and piano competitions in Gorinoa and Barcelona as well as performing in a special celebration of Richard Strauss on BBC Radio 3.

16 year old violinist David Shaw, the yougest musician to ever reach the final of Texaco Young Musician of Wales in 2009, will also be performing.  Having given recitals through the UK, Italy, Germany and Hungary, he is well versed in performing and has also appeared alongside the Cardiff Symphony Orchestra and on the televised One Thousand Christmas Voices in Llangollen.

The Chetham’s Showcase, an opportunity to see the next generation of classical musicians, takes place on Thursday 27th November at 7.30pm in the Carole Nash Hall at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester.  Tickets priced at £10 / £8.  Further Showcases will take place on Thursday 5th March 2015 and Thursday 21st May 2015.
