Pebbledash release Tiles & Moss ahead of EP and Manchester gig

Pebbledash unveil Tiles & Moss and announce upcoming EP

Irish post-punk group Pebbledash have released their new single Tiles & Moss, marking a taste of their upcoming EP To Cast the Sea in Concrete, which arrives on Wednesday 5 November 2025. The track lands ahead of their November headline tour, which includes a Manchester gig at The Castle.

Recorded by Cathal MacGabhann (Altered Hours) and mixed by Andy Killian (Pretty Happy), Tiles & Moss showcases Pebbledash’s distinct blend of serrated guitars, layered harmonies, and shoegaze textures. The band intertwine their dual vocals in shadowed verses, resolving into luminous choruses over propulsive drums and swelling drones. Across its run time, the single builds from slow-burn tension to a stormy climax.

Speaking about the track, Cormac Donovan O’Neill said, “It was vital to us that when we brought Tiles and Moss to the studio, we would do it justice, as it’s been a stalwart of our live set for so long. As a song, we’ve always felt it’s quintessential Pebbledash, exploring so many sides of what makes up our musical DNA — the lurching, serrated texture of the guitars combined with Fionnbharr’s rapid-fire lyrical delivery recalling an Isn’t Anything-era My Bloody Valentine, Schuch’s pared-back drumbeat reminiscent of Sister or Daydream Nation. Spending four days in the studio living with these tracks encouraged us to really dig into the potential of these arrangements’ textural elements; underpinning Tiles and Moss you can hear the low hum and wheeze of a charity shop-find harmonium breathing throughout, that acoustic voice meshing in with the synthesiser, as much evoking Neu and Cluster as it does the sonorous pipes of Paddy Keenan and Liam O’Flynn.”

The track takes lyrical inspiration from traditional murder ballads but reframes the narrative as an internal reckoning with self-sabotage. “The song’s lyrics are done in the style of a murder balled but rather than a traditional balled of this style we took a more introspective focus trying to address self irritation or contempt and overcoming this frustration throughout the song, its a battle im sure most people are familiar with this vicious cycle of self sabotage and we articulate that struggle here!”

Pebbledash have gained support from Radio X, BBC Radio 6 Music, RTE, So Young, Clash, Dork, Hot Press, and Spotify editorial playlists including Hot New Bands, Melomania, and Breath of Fresh Éire. They are currently part of The So Young Tour and continue to build a strong reputation across Ireland and the UK.
