Sunday 8th February:

Royal Northern College of Music – Day of Percussion. The RNCM’s Day of Percussion 2015 takes place featuring workshops, concerts and specialist consultations.  World renowned artists including leading vibraphonist Anthony Kerr, world music specialist Pete Lockett, acclaimed drummer Troy Miller and LSO Principal Percussionist Neil Percy and LPO Timpanist Simon Carrington take part.  More details here.  Tickets £30 for the whole day although individual concert and workshop tickets may be available.

 

Tuesday 10th February:

Chetham’s School of Music – Vocal Concert.  Chetham’s School of Music puts on a vocal concert in the Carole Nash Hall.  Tickets £5.00 (£4 concessions).  7.30pm.

 

Wednesday 11th February:

Royal Northern College of Music – Manchester Camerata.  Manchester Camerata’s first performance in the newly refurbished RNCM Concert Hall sees them performing Bizet’s Symphony in C, Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor and Mozart’s Symphony No 40.  Hannah Roberts is featured on cello.  Tickets £32.  7.30pm.  The evening will also feature a free pre-concert performance by Webster Primary School as they reveal their own musical creation.

 

Thursday 12th February:

Royal Northern College of Music – Kathryn Williams.  Flautist Kathryn Williams, second-prize winner in the 2012 British Flute Society Young Artist Competition and former winner of the RNCM Concerto Competition, performs in the third International Artist Diploma solo recital with a programme including Bach’s Partita in A minor, Stockhausen’s Susani’s Echo and a world premiere of Tompkins’ la Kunah Ai Cayanuh.  Tickets £10.  7.30pm.

 

Friday 13th February:

MediaCity UK – BBC Philharmonic.  The BBC Philharmonic stages an open rehearsal of Enigma Variations as the orchestra is joined by Grammy and Juno award-winning conductor Bramwell Tovey.  They will also be rehearsing the overture for Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet.  Free (no ticket required).  1.30pm.

 

Saturday 14th February:

Royal Northern College of Music – National Youth Jazz Orchestra.   The National Youth Jazz Orchestra put’s its twist on Valentine’s Day and plays a selection of jazz songs for lovers.  Tickets £15.  7.30pm.

Bridgewater Hall – Halle: Pops – Valentine’s Day Concert.  The Halle embraces the most romantic night of the year with a special Valentine’s Day Concert featuring vocalists Anna-Jane Casey and Graham Bickley and a programme devoted to love.  The concert is set to include Elgar’s Salut d’amour, Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You, Gershwin’s Girl Crazy: Overture, Huey Lewis’ The Power of Love and much more.  Stephen Bell conducts.  Tickets £41-£19. 7.30pm.
