All day event of concerts, sessions and workshops

Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music has announced details of the RNCM Day of Percussion, set to take place on Sunday 8th February which will feature concerts, sessions and workshops from some of the UK’s leading percussionists.

The Day of Percussion 2015 will take place across the RNCM’s Theatre, Studio Theatre and the newly refurbished Concert Hall with activities suitable for newcomers to percussion as well as seasoned performers and teachers.  The event will feature internationally renowned artists including leading vibraphonist Anthony Kerr, world music specialist Pete Lockett, acclaimed drummer Troy Miller and LSO Principal Percussionist Neil Percy and LPO Timpanist Simon Carrington.

The all day event is set to launch at 10am with the RNCM’s own Percussion Department performing a selection of music for percussion ensemble and will continue with workshops, sessions and performances before rounding off with a concert featuring all of the day’s artists at 6.30pm – this is set to include Neil Percy and Simon Carrington (marimba/vibraphone duo), Pete Lockett (solo percussion), Anthony Kerr and Troy Miller (jazz ensemble) as well as The Marimba Consort.

Private 20 minute consultation lessons with Ian Wright (timpani) and Ian Forgrieve (tuned percussion) will be available and free for day ticket holders, although booking in advance is essential by contacting the RNCM.

Tickets for the full day are priced at £30, although tickets to some individual elements are available.
