Samuel Jack will release his debut album The Gold & The Glory next week, featuring latest single Borderline.

Borderline is the second single to be released from the album.  The track tells of yearning and regret with optimism and positivity.

“Borderline is a song about the desire to go back to a make or break moment and make a different choice” he explains.  “Sometimes the decisions we make are hard to swallow, especially in love. ‘Borderline’ is a song that shouts that very sentiment from the rooftops.”

Samuel Jack wrote the track alongside Chris Young and Patch Thomas who also produced the song with Owen Thomas.

Borderline joins Sun Goes Down and Those Days in providing a window into what to expect from The Gold & The Glory.  Samuel’s songs explore universal experiences from a personal perspective: relationships that fade before others blossom; the passing of his father; and persevering to conquer your own self-doubts.

The 11-track album represents a new peak in a career which saw Samuel Jack release three volumes of Empty Pockets Crowded Heart before his rise started with the viral hit Feels Like Summer (50 million streams and counting!).  His late father was instrumental in shaping his future, with blues, soul, Motown, gospel, roots music and especially Paul Simon’s classic Graceland all soundtracking his childhood in Johannesburg.

Samuel Jack releases debut album The Gold & The Glory on 16 June 2023.
