Nigel Wearne will headline at Manchester gig at The Castle as part of his 9 date UK tour which includes sets at Cambridge Folk Festival.

The Australian singer and songwriter returns to the UK on the back of his highly successful tour in January.

2023 opened with a co-bill UK tour alongside the award-winning Lauren Housley followed by showcases at UK Americana Music Week and Folk Alliance International.  Add a tour of the US new music, it’s certainly been a busy period.

Multi-instrumentalist Nigel Wearne draws influence from artists as diverse as Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch as he merges blues, folk and Americana-noir, with his experimentation with music even drawing him to invite listeners to comment on what genre they think his tracks may be.  He takes on human frailty, grace and the cosmos, delving deep in to thought and longing for all things peculiar.

He’s toured Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA and Canada and performed at a long list of music festivals, including MerleFest (USA), UK Americana Music Week, Port Fairy Folk Festival (AUS) and the Adelaide Guitar Festival (AUS). His sophomore album, Black Crow garnered wide critical acclaim, a nomination for Best Country Album at the Music Victoria Awards and debuted at #1 on Australia’s AMRAP Charts.
