Maisie Peters has shared the video to accompany latest single Body Better which features on her upcoming second album.
The video was shot in LA and directed by Mia Barns. In the video, Maisie Peters channels a spirit who haunts the grounds of a graveyard for the broken-hearted. Mourning the breakup of her relationship, Maisie shares her grief with a small group of friends, before eventually coming to terms with the loss and learning to love herself.
Maisie Peters wrote the track alongside Ines Dunn and producer Matias Tellez as she sought to showcase the evolution of her songwriting style and put a marker down for the new album.
“Body Better is one of the most honest songs I’ve ever released, and definitely the most personal”, Maisie shares. “I wrote it after a breakup and it deals with the ugly things you think to yourself in the aftermath, when you’re painstakingly going through everything small thing you did and were and wondering what you could have changed. It’s a song about insecurity and vulnerability, about giving a lot of yourself away to someone who decides they don’t want it anymore, and knowing where to go from there.”
Body Better is the first taste of Maisie Peter’s soon to be announced second album.
Maisie Peters will perform a string of dates across April and summer 2023 including a set at Liverpool’s Sound City.
