The video was filmed in Oxfordshire, directed by Vaughn Arnell who has previously worked with James, Robbie Williams, The Spice Girls, George Michael and One Direction. Filming took place at a Gothic house which was also home to James Bond in the film Quantum of Solace.
The video was conceived by James Blunt personally and features his father to whom he has dedicated the track and video, as he explains, “Monsters is for my father who has Stage 4 Chronic Kidney disease, so I asked if he’d like to be in the video with me.”
Monsters marks one of the most personal songs James Blunt has ever written, marking a heartbreaking ode from son to father. All royalties from the track have been donated by James Blunt to Help for Heroes and the British Legion.
James Blunt will be heading out on tour in February with nine dates including a Manchester gig at Manchester Arena. Support on the tour comes from Ward Thomas, who also headline an acoustic gig at Manchester’s RNCM on 27 April 2020.
