Alice Merton has shared her new track Loveback from upcoming album S.I.D.E.S.  She will headline a Manchester gig at Gorilla in October.

Loveback features a range of influences from indie-rock to power-pop, vocal shout-outs to leftfield alt-pop moments.  It also sets out a statement of intent for the album, declaring, “Watch my lips as I Say: I don’t need you!”

Speaking about Loveback, Alice Merton explained, “‘Loveback talks about waking up one day and realising someone has stolen a part of you that you want back. It was the realisation that I didn’t ‘need’ anyone to exist. I was never dependent on anyone or anything, even if it at times felt like it. I felt like I was handing out something I was rarely getting back. At some point I felt like I had forgotten why I’m doing what I’m doing, and felt like I had lost sight of what’s really important to me.”

Alice Merton wrote and produced Loveback alongside Tim Morten, one of her main collaborators on the S.I.D.E.S. album.

S.I.D.E.S. sees Alice Merton fighting against the things that have held her back in the past. Whether it’s with relationships, work conflicts or simply her own self-doubt

Alice Merton will release new album S.I.D.E.S. on 17 June 2022.
