Bridgewater Hall – The Halle. Karl-Heinz Steffens conducts and Denis Kozhukhim is featured on piano as the Halle performs three magnificent pieces – Tchaikovsky’s majestic and awe-inspiring Swan Lake Suite, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No 1 and Sibelius’ Symphony No 1. Tickets £39-£13. 7.30pm..
Monday 30 March:
Royal Northern College of Music – Laura Wright. Soprano Laura Wright makes her Manchester headlining debut performing favourites from her past albums as well as songs from her recently released Sound of Strength, featuring mainstream works. The singer, who has gained huge popularity through her performances at sporting events is likely to perform classics such as Jerusalem, World In Union, Nessun Dorma and Invincible. Tickets £20. 7.30pm.
Tuesday 31 March:
Bridgewater Hall – Peter Donohoe. Pianist Peter Donohoe appears as part of the Bridgewater Hall’s International Concert Series performing Scriabin’s Sonata No 7 ‘White Mass’, Ravel’s Miroirs and Rachmaninov’s 13 Preludes. Tickets £27-£14. 7.30pm. Earlier in the eventing (5.00pm) there is also an opportunity to hear a lecture-recital introduction to Ravel and Rachmaninov given by pianist/lecturer Murray McLachlan (Tickets £7)
Wednesday 1 April:
Royal Northern College of Music – Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra. The Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra performs at the RNCM in a concert featuring Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Texan Tenebrae, Alberto Ginastera’s Harp Concerto and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No 9. Tickets £12. 7.00pm.
