Sunday 27 July:

Thwaites Festival Pavilion (Albert Square).  Sam Healey Quartet. Fresh from his outstanding performance as part of Beats & Pieces Big Band on Friday night at Manchester Jazz Festival (you can read a review of their awesome show here!), Sam Healey returns with the Sam Healey Quartet featuring Stuart McCallum on guitar, Richard Hammond on bass and Luke Flowers on drums.  1.00pm.  Tickets £4.

Thwaites Festival Pavilion (Albert Square). The Music Place Choir.  Manchester Jazz festival comes to it’s conclusion with a sixty piece community choir run in partnership with The Cinnamon Club and Altrincham’s music education centre, The Music Place. The show will include pieces by Richard Rodgers,with new arrangements new arrangements by Clare Morel, Iain Dixon and Jo McCallum. Alison Owen will be featured on lead vocals.  5.00pm.  Tickets £4.

 

Thursday 31 July – Friday 1 August:

Bridgewater Hall.  Bridgewater Summer Festival. The Bridgewater Hall hands itself over to two days of music, art and discovery as theBridgewater Summer Festival takes place.  Events include the opportunity to try the new sound labs and enjoy performances throughout each day and more.

 

Saturday 2 August:

Bridgewater Hall.  The Last Night of the Halle Proms.  Stephen Bell conducts as the Halle performs its traditional finale to the Summer Promenade programme.  The event is set to include the likes of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.1, Parry’s Jerusalem (orch Elgar), Stravinsky’s The Firebird:Suite and Debussy’s Prélude à l’après midi d’un faune.  Tickets from £17.
