Bridgewater Hall – London Concert Orchestra presents Bond and Beyond.  Spy kits, vodka martinis and tuxedos at the ready for this afternoon concert as the London Concert Orchestra performs iconic songs and music from 50 years’ of Bond movies alongside a tribute to other spies and detectives including the likes of The Avengers, The Pink Panther and Hawaii Five-O.  Features Louise Dearman and Tim Howar as guest singers.  John Rigby conducts.  Tickets £41.50 – £18.  3pm.

 

Monday 27 October:

Royal Northern College of Music – Vienna Piano Trio.  The award winning trio which has performed extensively throughout the world over the last 25 years performs Haydn’s Piano Trio in E flat major; Mozart’s Piano Trio in G major; and Brahms’ Piano Trio in B major.  Tickets from £12.50.  7.30pm.

 

Wednesday 29 October:

Bridgewater Hall – Jennifer Pike.  The Manchester Mid-day Concerts Society series continues as violinist and former BBC Young Musician of the Year (aged only 12) and youngest major prizewinner in the Menuhin International Violin Competition, Jennifer Pike performs Beethoven’s Sonata in E flat major; Ysaye’s Ballade (Sonata No. 3) for solo violin; and Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.  Tickets £11.50 / £9.50 (concessions) / £7 (student).  1.10pm.

 

Thursday 30 October:

Royal Northern College of Music – The Fall of the House of Usher.  Taking on elements of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories, the 1928 silent cinema horror classic by Jean Epstein receives a showing alongside a live performanc eof a new score for chamber orchestra by Charlie Barber using existing sketches by Debussy.  Tickets £12.  8pm.

 

Friday 31 October:

Royal Northern College of Music – RNCM Big Band with Julian Joseph.  Globally acclaimed jazz pianist Julian Joseph joins the RNCM Big Band for the first show of the autumn season.  The show is set to featured a number of his own arrangements followed by a performance of The Atomic Mr Basie.  This show forms a part of 2014’s Manchester Science Festival.  Tickets from £15.  7.30pm.

Bridgewater Hall – BBC Philharmonic.  Yutaka Sado conducts and Nobuyuki Tsujii is featured on the piano as the BBC Philharmonic performs Adam’s The Chairman Dances and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3; Symphonic Dances.  Tickets £37-£12.  7.30pm.

 

Saturday 1 November:

Bridgewater Hall – The Halle.  The Halle present The Ella Fitzgerald Songbook with a programme featuring Clare Teal as vocalist performing such classics as Too Darn Hot, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, SWonderful and That Old Black Magic.  Tickets £41-£19.  7.30pm.
