Monday 19th January:

Royal Northern College of Music – Danish String Quartet.  Manchester Chamber Concerts Society present the Danish String Quartet performing Mendelssohn’s Capriccio for String Quartet, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No 9 in E flat major and Beethoven’s String Quartet in C sharp minor.  The event features a pre-concert talk at 6.30pm by Professor Cooper on Beethoven’s String Quartet.  Tickets £25.  7.30pm.

 

Thursday 22nd January:

Royal Northern College of Music – The Brand New Orchestra. Adam Kornas, Thiago Santos and Carlos Agreda Arango conduct as the RNCM Brand New Orchestra present newly composed work for the symphony orchestra as RNCM composers unvil their latest work.  Free.  7.30pm.

 

Friday 23rd January:

Royal Northern College of Music – RNCM Festival of Brass.  Three days of brass music start as the RNCM’s Festival of Brass launches, with highlights including the Black Dyke Band, the RNCM Brass Band and Foden’s Band.  The event features award winning band, world-renowned soloists and world premieres of new works.  The RNCM Festival of Brass runs from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th January, with times and prices varying.  Further details at the RNCM’s website.

Bridgewater Hall – BBC Philharmonic present Beethoven’s Egmont.  Juanjo Mena conducts the BBC Philharmonic during a rare performance of Beethoven’s complete score for Egmont.  Also being performed are Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 23 in A and Haydn’s Symphony No 44 in E minor.  Javier Periances (piano), Eleanor Dennis (soprano) and Malcomb Raeburn (narrator) are featured.  Tickets £37-£12.  7.30pm.
