Grimm Up North and Trof present classic episodes of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Stingray on the big screen

As part of BFI’s Sci fi Season, Grimm Up North and Trof are presenting a marathon run of classics from legendary Gerry and Sylvia Anderson at Manchester’s Gorilla on 11th January, featuring over four hours of classic shows, with all the original retro adverts in an all-dayer event of classic animation and puppetry supported by Film Hub North West Central.

Classic episodes of Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and more, which will no doubt delight fans at the This Is Supermarionation Marathon event, will be complemented by the Manchester première of the new documentary Filmed In Supermarionation about the puppetry and animation techniques used and devised by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and their team.

Grimm Up North commented, “Our ‘THIS IS SUPERMARIONATION’ marathon is a very special programme featuring classic episodes of THUNDERBIRDS, STINGRAY, CAPTAIN SCARLETT, FIREBALL XL-5 and many more in painstakingly restored high definition with the original classic adverts from ITV included all presented by Lady Penelope & Parker; plus the mancunian premiere of the new critically acclaimed documentary ‘FILMED IN SUPERMARIONATION’ which is about the iconic and world-leading puppetry and animation techniques devised by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and their team of puppeteers in a Slough warehouse in the 1960s.”

The event, which is a must for all fans of animation, puppetry and the classic shows, will feature:

This Is Supermarionation Marathon takes place at Gorilla on 11th January from 1pm until 8.30pm (doors at 12pm).  Tickets £15 in advance which includes free entry to an after party at Fab Café.  Fancy dress is encouraged!
