Star line-up announced including Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Biards, The Charlatans and Paolo Nutini

This summer some of the most acclaimed live artists are taking over Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl throughout July for Summer In The City.

Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott will headline Summer In the City on Friday 3rd July.  Their outdoor show follows what was an extraordinarily successful 2014 for the duo. Their album What Have We Become was one of the success stories of last year, hitting No. 3 in the charts on its release.  It is the first record Paul and Jacqui have made together since the multi-million selling days of The Beautiful South.  The album was reissued with additional tracks recorded with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, including the single Real Hope, at the end of last year.  They will be joined by special guests I AM KLOOT and The Leisure Society.

On Thursday 2nd July, Paolo Nutini will headline the iconic location following an incredible 12 months since his acclaimed third album Caustic Love went straight in at number 1, quickly reaching platinum status and cementing Nutini as one of the country’s leading artists.  Produced by Paolo Nutini and Dani Castelar, Caustic Love has been universally hailed by fans and critics alike.  Paolo and his impressive nine piece band have spent much of the last year touring the UK and Europe with not to-be-missed live shows and his appearance at Summer In the City will be in the midst of worldwide festival appearances.

Following the release of their critically acclaimed twelfth album, ‘Modern Nature’ The Charlatans will perform on Saturday 4th July and will be joined by upcoming Manchester band Blossoms.  Tim Burgess, Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers’ new album features eleven new tracks and includes the recent limited edition 7” single and 6 Music A List record Talking In Tones and the anthemic Come Home Baby.  It was produced by The Charlatans and Jim Spencer.  Their current sold out live shows, including recent nights at Manchester’s Albert Hall, are The Charlatans’ first full UK tour since 2010.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will headline at the iconic location on Saturday 11th July.  At the hometown outdoor show Noel, who recently performed at Manchester Arena, will be joined on the bill by fellow Mancunians Johnny Marr and Black Rivers (Jez and Andy Williams formerly of Doves).   The show follows Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ recent sold out arena tour and release of the number one album Chasing Yesterday.  The highly acclaimed long-player is the fastest selling album of 2015 so far, going straight to the number one spot.

Castlefield bowl in the heart of Manchester City Centre played host to sold out shows from James and Pixies last year and in 2013 saw The Courteeners headline two hugely successful sold out concerts.

Tickets for Summer In the City 2015 go on sale Friday 20th March at 9am.
