modernlove have shared their new single Only Ever Only You ahead of a run of UK tour dates including a Liverpool gig.

The Drogheda four piece will play eight UK shows including Liverpool’s Shipping Forecast.

Only Ever Only You follows on from the band’s previous single Ruin Your Night which garnered strong support and airplay from Radio X and BBC Radio 1.

The new single lands ahead of modernlove’s US tour and will feature on their upcoming third EP.

The single tells of realising, a little too late, that the object of your desire isn’t as infatuated as you are.  As the band explain, “Only Ever Only You chronicles the breaking down of communication in a relationship. It’s about being in love when it’s too late and trying to communicate with someone who has moved on and simply isn’t there anymore. It’s probably the most sincere and direct we’ve been in a song and the music speaks to that. We’ve taken from our early inspirations and gone straight up pop punk on this track.”

Only Ever Only You is accompanied by a video fuelled by energetic angst, mindlessly working day jobs whilst dreaming of bigger things.
