David Walliams‘ Awful Auntie heads to Manchester Opera House next month as part of a UK tour from the award-winning Birmingham Stage Company.
The production is the latest collaboration between award-winning theatre company and the BAFTA-winning comedian and best-selling children’s author. They have previously collaborated on the Olivier Award-nominated Gangsta Granny and Billionaire Boy.
David Walliams’ Awful Auntie will run at Manchester Opera House in April and then at Liverpool’s Empire in June.
When Stella sets off to visit London with her parents, she has no idea her life is in danger! When Stella wakes up three months later, only her Aunt Alberta can tell her what has happened. But not everything Alberta tells her turns out to be true and Stella quickly discovers she’s in for the fight of her life against her very own awful Auntie!
As well as adapting and directing Awful Auntie, Birmingham Stage Company’s Neal Foster will also appear in the title role. Neal Foster is the Actor/Manager of The Birmingham Stage Company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. Since its foundation in 1992, Birmingham Stage Company has run over one hundred productions and the company has become one of the world’s leading producers of theatre for children and their families with shows including Horrible Histories Live on Stage.
Awful Auntie is adapted and directed by Neal Foster, Assistant Director/Movement Director is Richard J Hinds, the Designer is Jackie Trousdale, lighting is by Jason Taylor, sound is by Nick Sagar and the music is by Jak Poore.
When does Awful Auntie run at Manchester Opera House?
Awful Auntie runs at Manchester Opera House from 18-21 April 2024. As well as a Manchester run, it will be at Liverpool’s Empire from 13-16 June 2024. The full tour:
