Sunday 11th January:

Royal Northern College of Music – Chamber Music Festival.  The RNCM’s Chamber Music Festival concludes, featuring 10 events including performances of Dvorak’s Piano Trio No 4 ‘Dumky’, Martinu’s La Revue de Cuisine, a screening of The Lady In Number 6: Music Save My Life, telling the story of the world’s oldest Holocaust survivor Alice Herz-Sommer, Smetana’s String Quartet No 2 and Haas’s String Quartet No 2 ‘From the Monkey Mountains’ as well as much more.  The event takes place throughout the day with many events free.  More details at the RNCM’s Website.

 

Wednesday 14th January:

Chetham’s School of Music – Lunchtime Concert.  This free lunchtime concert at Chetham’s features Alicja Kojder (piano), Daniel Liu (piano) and Olivia Gandee (french horn) performing pieces such as Rowley’s Miniature Concerto, Bach’s Keyboard Concerto No 5 in F minor and Schoeck’s Horn Concerto.  Free.  1.30pm

 

Thursday 15th January:

Royal Northern College of Music – The RNCM Concert Orchestra A free lunchtime concert performed by the RNCM Concert Orchestra featuring Elgar’s Chanson du Martin and Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor.  Clark Rundell and Carlos Agreda Arango conduct as Elena Daunyte is featured on cello.  Free.  1.15pm.

Bridgewater Hall – The Halle.  The acclaimed Norwegian violinist Henning Kraggerud joins The Halle on stage to perform Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No 2, whilst the Halle will also perform Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 6 ‘Pathetique’.  Tickets £41 – £13.  7.30pm.
