The Brand New Heavies will headline at Manchester gig at the Bridgewater Hall in November following the recent release of their compilation album Never Stop … The Best Of.

The Manchester gig is one of three UK dates they are playing with their 8-piece band featuring vocalist Angela Ricci and more than 20 members of the London Concert Orchestra.

The trio of dates open at London’s Barbican Hall before a show at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, culminating in a Manchester gig at the Bridgewater Hall.

The acid jazz pioneers blended 70’s funk grooves with a modern twist, garnering global success.  They landed platinum sales in the UK for their Top Ten albums Brother Sister (1994) and Shelter (1997) and scooped 15 UK Top 40 singles including You are The Universe, Midnight at the Oasis and Sometimes.

Their influences remains to this date with superfan Mark Ronson commenting in his liner notes for the album, “The Brand New Heavies and their pitch perfect jazz-funk revival were my musical coming out party. They were my introduction to all the incredible music I would spend the next 30 years of my life DJ’ing in clubs as well as triggering my desire to think outside of the basic-ass chords I knew on the guitar and piano.”
