Princess Goes have announced the release of their new album Come of Age and a UK tour opening with a Manchester gig.

The trio, the electronic project of Michael C. Hall, Peter Yanowitz and Matt Katz-Bohen will headline at Manchester Academy in September, one of five UK dates they are playing.

Come of Age is the follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2021 debut Thanks For Coming.  The new eleven-track album will land on 15 September.  The album announcement arrived as the trio unveiled the first single from the release, ShimmerShimmer looks at connection and the existential need to be heard.

Speaking about the single, Princess Goes said, “If ‘Shimmer’ sounds like it was written in a fever dream it’s because it basically was. The chord progression originated from a simple bass line and floor tom beat and it evolved from there, building on its own momentum, like an argument that is heating up. For the most part, in Princess Goes we’ve eschewed traditional song structures whenever possible, both lyrically and musically, in favour of a more experimental approach, kinda like musical poems. In ‘Shimmer’ the lyrics slip out like a secret, like something from the subconscious, with absolutely no regard (or use) for verses or choruses, instead they seem to be mostly concerned with conveying this very human need to be heard.”

The new track is accompanied by a video from Tim Richardson, inspired by science-fiction and the retro-futuristic virtual realities of Tron and Ready Player One.
