Pop Will Eat Itself will headline at Manchester Academy 2 on Saturday night, promising a set of all killer, no filler greatest hits.

The hip-hop/rick crossover group will headline a bill which also features Cud and Collapsed Lung.

Currently comprising Graham Crabb and Mary Baker (vocals), Rich March (guitar), Adam Mole (keys), Fuzz Townshend (drums) and Davey Bennett (bass), Pop Will Eat Itself have earned cult status.

They have influenced the likes of The Prodigy and Nine Inch Nails and packed up a huge worldwide following which has remained local to them since the band’s formation almost four decades ago.

Pop Will Eat Itself announced them selves as hip-hop rock crossover pioneers back in 1987, changing direction from indie pop.  Their debut album Box Frenzy landed the same year, bringing plaudits and acclaim.  It was following by second album This Is The Day, This Is The Hour, This Is This, a record which was deemed ahead of its time and a masterpiece with two more albums and a major US tour alongside Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson before heavy touring saw them go their separate ways.

After a brief reunion in 2005 for The Reformation Tour, Pop Will Eat Itself reunited in 2011, released their first new album in 17 years.  They are currently working on new material.
