Adeem The Artist has shared their new album Anniversary ahead of a run of UK shows including a Manchester gig.

The Country and Blues music artist will headline at Manchester’s Gullivers during a UK run which also includes a set at The Long Road Festival.

Anniversary features the previously shared singles Socialite Blues, One Night Stand and Rotations.  Adeem The Artist recorded the album live to tape over five days at The Butcher Shop in Nashville.  The album was produced by Butch Walker and features musicians Megan Coleman, Nelson Williams, Ellen Angelico, Jessye DeSilva, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Katie Pruitt.

The 12-track collection delves in to empathy, humour and introspection with an infusion of Piedmont Blues.  “It’s wild to listen to some of the early Country versus Piedmont Blues stuff and how much race is used to draw red lines around genre access,” says Adeem The Artist, the East Tennessee-based songwriter whose family settled in the lower Piedmont region.  Initially, Adeem was unsure about exploring the genre for that reason alone, but a growing obsession with Piedmont Blues led to them connecting with their sense of ancestry in the region and drawing influence directly from the likes of Blind Boy Fuller and Brownie McGhee.

Growing up, Adeem the Artist adopted dark jokes as a means to open up about tough subjects.  As a musician they built a following by blending Appalachian musical influences with that comedic instinct and a poetic approach ahead of 2021’s Cast-Iron Pansexual – the album that earned Adeem the Artist praise from Rolling Stone and American Songwriter for its examination of faith, sexual identity, and self-acceptance.
